Project Cycle

The project cycle

The MALIDENKO project follows a structured cycle: needs identification by communities, local development planning, funding of priority micro-projects, implementation by populations and participatory monitoring & evaluation. Each step places communities at the heart of decisions.

Project Cycle

The approach

What is CDD?

Community-Driven Development (CDD) is an approach that places populations at the heart of the development process. Communities themselves identify their needs, decide on priorities, and manage the implementation of funded micro-projects.

How does CDD work?

1

Needs identification

Communities gather in village assemblies to identify and prioritize their needs for infrastructure and services.

2

Plan development

A Local Development Plan (LDP) is developed by communities with the support of project facilitators and validated in assembly.

3

Financing

The project transfers funds directly to Village/Quarter/Fraction Development Committees (VQFDC) who ensure transparent management.

4

Implementation

Communities themselves carry out the works, manage procurement and ensure monitoring, with technical support from the project.

5

Monitoring and evaluation

Communities assess results, report publicly and capitalize on lessons learned for subsequent cycles.

Ministry of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion

Institutionalizing CDD at national level

The Ministry of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion aims to make CDD a permanent development approach in Mali. Through the MALIDENKO project and its results, the goal is to anchor CDD in public policies, strengthen local actors' capacities and extend the approach across the national territory.
