Chaired by Minister Ismael WAGUE, the national workshop laid the foundations for the lasting institutionalization of Community-Led Development (DCC) in Mali: a consensual legal, institutional, financial and operational framework.
This Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Ministry of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Reconciliation, Army Corps General Ismael WAGUE, a National Workshop on the sustainability of Community-Led Development (DCC) was held. This workshop, which brought together representatives of sectoral departments and technical structures, aimed to lay the foundations for the lasting institutionalization of DCC in Mali, through the establishment of a consensual legal, institutional, financial and operational framework involving all state, technical, financial and community stakeholders. The proceedings made it possible to share the achievements and impacts of the DCC approach through the PCRSS and MALIDENKO projects, to examine dedicated digital tools, financing opportunities, and mechanisms for integrating DCC into national budgetary frameworks and sectoral projects. International experiences in sustainable financing and proposals for a national strategy also enriched the discussions. Following the presentations, interactive exchanges enabled participants to formulate concrete recommendations on governance, sustainable financing, the legal framework and the gradual deployment of DCC at the national level. A summary of the recommendations, presented by the Principal DCC Advisor, concluded the proceedings, before the official closing of the workshop by the Minister, who praised the quality of the contributions and reaffirmed the government's commitment to making Community-Led Development a major lever for local development, social cohesion and lasting stabilization in Mali.
